Organ Study Trips

Organ Study Trips

Since 2008, the Betts Centre has organised annual trips for organ scholars to play historic organs throughout Continental Europe. In recent years, students have explored Bach country, Northern and Southern Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and the Netherlands. The trips usually take place during the vacation between Hilary and Trinity Terms (end of March/beginning of April). Seeing, hearing, and playing the kind of organs Bach, Buxtehude, Widor and innumerable others knew and played can be a profound revelation. It is safe to say that these trips have been eye-opening for everyone who has participated.

In 2025, the Betts Organ Study Trip will take a group of 27 students from both Oxford and Cambridge Universities to Paris (28 to 30 March).
Visits to the following churches are planned: La Trinité, St Étienne du Mont, Notre-Dame des Vertus (Aubervilliers), Saint Maurice de Bécon (Courbevoie), Saint Sulpice and Notre Dame.
