Mentoring Programme

Mentoring Programme for Oxford Organ Scholars

Organ Scholars at the University of Oxford are eligible for the Betts Centre's mentoring programme, which provides a combination of one-to-one lessons on musicianship and keyboard skills, tailored to the organ scholar's needs, and small group tutorials on conducting, church music, rehearsal techniques, etc. The lessonsĀ are given by professional organists, and topics can include hymn playing, accompaniment and conducting, professionalism in church music (i.e. choosing repertoire, choral rehearsal techniques, planning, careers advice, guidance to RCO and similar qualifications, etc.), improvisation, transposition, sight reading, continuo and partimento realisation, and more. Further information about the programme can be obtained from Dr Katharine Pardee.
